Keep on Trucking. When to persevere and when to let go and walk away.
Topic Intro: We all undergo trials and tribulations in order to get what we believe we need or what we desire. But how long should we give our endeavor before we walk away with our experience in tow? This would depend on what it is that we desire.
We desire another person: If this is the case then it takes two to Tango. The other person must desire us. This can be anyone from a lover, friend, client, boss and so on. The secret is to be who you are to the best of your ability. Nahh, too easy and bound for failure. Nope, it’s that simple. Now some relationships are more clear then others. Some have rules and requirements and you can think about it if you want to be in that relationship or not. A boss requires you to have certain abilities and to perform in a certain manner. A client expects what is good for them from you. In these two relationships, the rules are clear. You are preforming to the best of your ability just like I previously stated. The other two are fuzzy but you can learn from the boss and client to help you with lover and friend.
What if what you want is not another person but a new house, car, job, escape, weight loss etc. This takes concentration, planning and to already act as if you have what you want. To celebrate everything that you achieve. To keep focusing on your goal.
Meditation: Think about one thing you want to bring into your life. Write it down on paper, draw it. This brings it out of the ether and makes it more solid. Focus on your words, your drawing. Say “I have this car” or what you desire. Breathe in and out deeply with your eyes closed.
Discussion: Most of the things you can successfully achieve in this life will be things that rely on only you. Once another person or situation is involved this complicates your task. It’s an energy thing really, bringing someone else’s energy in to mix with your own. Therefore it is easier to get a new car, house, lose weight etc then to find a new lover or friend. Of course pursue whatever your heart desires but when is it time walk away?
Have an exit plan and fail fast. If you are an entrepreneur and starting a new business, it’s strange to already be thinking about your end game. Your exit plan. However, that is what is done. Give yourself milestones and a deadline to meet. Failing fast involves deciding that this is it and walking away before something is finished. Sometimes we refuse to see the red flags that have been piling up when we suddenly feel weakened and hopeless. This is is the time to leave.
Closing Resources: Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
